12 Week Intro Course
This course is available to organizations in Milwaukee County who serve low-income communities, and who have a physical location where we can practice. Preference to programs whose participants also have access to therapy, as Ashtanga Yoga does bring up our "stuff".
You always hear people talk about "processing our emotions", yet, we do not give people tangible tools to do this. Ashtanga Yoga IS that tool. It gives you physical tool to process your experiences.
Each week will consist of a lecture on various topics, including (but not limited to), philosophy, breath control, technique, and meditation. Participants will learn 1-4 new asanas (poses). The vision is to go very slowly so everyone feels comfortable and confident in what they are learning so they can do this (if they choose) on their own until the next week we meet. We will practices that pose or poses together. We will end with a group discussion and a short meditation.
